Prendergast Signs Taxpayer Protection Pledge
TAMPA, FL - Mike Prendergast announced today that he signed the Americans For Tax Reform "Taxpayer Protection Pledge." Prendergast, a fiscal conservative, firmly believes that Congress should be focused on creating jobs, economic growth and a sound fiscal policy.
"I am proud to sign the Americans for Tax Reform Taxpayer Protection Pledge. This was an easy choice for me because I am a committed fiscal conservative. If elected to Congress, I will not vote for higher taxes," said Prendergast.
"This Congress seems to believe that taxing and spending will bring us out of this recession and create more jobs for Americans. This is reckless and will only lead us into deeper debt, less economic growth and fewer jobs. Government must learn to live within its means. Castor-Pelosi policies such as nationalized healthcare and the carbon tax will only burden small businesses and the other engines of our economy. I agree with President Reagan that sometimes government is not the solution to our problems, it is the problem."
The Taxpayer Protection Pledge states that as a member of the House of Representatives, Prendergast will "oppose any and all efforts to increase the marginal income tax rates for individuals and/or businesses; and oppose any net reduction or elimination of deductions and credits, unless matched dollar for dollar by further reducing tax rates."
